New Balance is set apart from its competitors by a number of distinct points of variance. COMMITMENT TO DOMESTIC MANUFACTURING: While many competitors have moved production overseas, New Balance remains dedicated to domestic manufacturing. Many New Balance shoes are produced in five New England-based facilities. EXTENSIVE WIDTH-SIZING: New Balance recognizes that feet come in all shapes and sizes, and that the shoe that fits better, performs better. Therefore, the company offers styles in up to six widths, from narrow AA to an extra wide 4E.
PRONATION: When we run, our bodies perform a shock-absorbing move called pronation, where the backs of our heels absorb the initial impact of our bodies, our feet then roll slightly inward and flatten, and our weight is dispersed to the inside balls of our feet. Everyone pronates in a different way, with most of us falling into one of three types. 1. Overpronator: Feet roll inward a lot while you run. Low or no arches. 2. Underpronator: Feet roll inward very little or not at all. High arches. 3. Neutral Pronator: Feet roll inward slightly. Normal arches. |
